All my Best, Julia Call for Nominations for CSDH/SCHN Outstanding Early Career Award Le francais suit The CSDH/SCHN Outstanding Early Career Award recognizes exemplary scholarly work by a Canadian or permanent resident researcher or a researcher at a Canadian institution during the early stage of their career. Early career, in this context, usually extends from the later stages of doctoral work to up to 10 years since completion of PhD or other terminal degree. The recipient need not be affiliated with an institution. The recipient will be invited to accept the award at the annual conference at Congress, which will be held in Montreal in June. The recipient will be invited to deliver a plenary address at the conference held the following year. This award is typically given to an early-career scholar whose work relates to any area of the digital humanities, broadly conceived, whether theoretical, critical, applied, or in the areas of community building and/or research creation. Evidence of scholarship may take the form of print or online publications, a design portfolio, fabrications, artworks or other creative works, prototypes or tools, or a production system. Work produced by a member of a larger collaborative team may be considered for this award; in such a case, the nomination should include a letter from the leader of the team (which may be the nominee her or himself) explaining the nature of the nominee’s contribution to the team activities. The award will be given for work that, in the opinion of the CSDH/SCHN Awards Committee, constitutes a significant contribution to the field. The committee particularly invites nominations for scholars belonging to underrepresented groups, including Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, 2SLGBTQIA+, and/or disabled persons. Nominations of up to 500 words must be submitted by April 15, 2026. Only current members of CSDH/SCHN are eligible to submit nominations. Nominations must be sent by email to the Chair of the CSDH/SCHN Awards Committee (jpolyckoneill(a)mun.ca <mailto:[email protected]>). The Awards Committee will compile a short list and confirm with nominees whether they are willing to be considered. Call for Nominations: 2026 Open Scholarship Awards We are pleased to announce the 2026 Open Scholarship Awards, sponsored by the Canadian Social Knowledge Institute (c-ski.ca) and its partners! Nominations for the 2026 awards are due by March 6 2026 via <https://forms.gle/H5aHzNwEx7UZmNJr7>https://forms.gle/w1t6Q8L4NmNshmhB7 Open scholarship incorporates open access, open data, open education, and other related movements that have the potential to make scholarly work more efficient, more accessible, and more usable by those within and beyond the academy. By engaging with open practices for academic work, open scholarship shares that work more broadly and more publicly. Awards, Nominations and Eligibility Two 2026 awards are available: ● the Open Scholarship Award, for open scholarship carried out by scholars, librarians, citizen scholars, research professionals, and administrators. ● the Emerging Researcher Open Scholarship Award, for open scholarship carried out by undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and early-stage professionals. For all awards, the successful candidates will have demonstrated exemplary open scholarship via research, projects, or initiatives. Research, initiative, and project types and formats of all sorts, from all areas, are welcome. Note that it is possible to nominate a project group or team. Rest as Resistance in Distressing Times: Embodied Digital Humanities for Collective Liberation Abstract: In an era defined by constant connectivity, crisis fatigue, and emotional overload, rest has become both a personal necessity and a political act. This keynote explores rest as a form of “emotional technology” — a set of practices that support regulation, creativity, and collective resilience. Drawing from film scoring, community facilitation, and healing-centered pedagogy, TIKA examines how rest, creativity, and digital culture intersect. She invites participants to consider how creative practice can move beyond productivity and performance toward sustainability, nervous-system literacy, and collective care. This talk offers a framework for understanding rest not as disengagement, but as a tool for imagination, resistance, and future-building within digital humanities and beyond. The ACH 2026 conference is focused on themes of transnationalism and solidarity, particularly with an attention to the Americas. Dear CSDH-SCHN Members: As you may know, our 2026 Conference Call for Papers deadline is fast approaching! As we move into the reviewing stage of our conference season, we would like to invite members to participate in the review process and, toward that end, to update your list of special interest topics. Again this year, we have updated our "pre-defined" list of special interest topics. Our list has been drawn from the most popular keywords of papers submitted to the last two years of our conference. Please take a moment to log in to ConfTool (or create an account) and update your list of "priority topics." They will help us find appropriate reviewers for our submitted papers. 1. Log in to ConfTool (https://www.conftool.net/csdh-schn-2026/) 2. Click "Show User Account Details" 3. Click "Priority Topics" at the bottom of the page. -- We have 40 newly revised topics reflecting recent paper and panel keywords -- Choose the areas that interest you and click "Save selection" at the bottom of the page 4.
