As we move into the reviewing stage of our conference season, we would like to invite members to participate in the review process and, toward that end, to update your list of special interest topics. Again this year, we have updated our "pre-defined" list of special interest topics. Our list has been drawn from the most popular keywords of papers submitted to the last two years of our conference. Please take a moment to log in to ConfTool (or create an account) and update your list of "priority topics." They will help us find appropriate reviewers for our submitted papers. 1. Dear Colleagues, We would like to kindly share additional information with you for the annual CSDH/SCHN conference from June 3th to 5th. Graduate students, please be aware of the particular January 23 deadline for applications for travel grants. APPEL À COMMUNICATIONS 3e édition du Workshop on Computational Methods in the Humanities (COMHUM 2026) ======================================================================== 9 et 10 septembre 2026 · Université de Lausanne, Suisse Date limite pour la soumission des résumés : 20 février 2026 Special track : « computation and video games » ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Le monde universitaire et les sciences humaines n’ont jamais été aussi numériques, ce qui pousse les humanités numériques à repousser les limites au-delà des approches computationnelles aux sciences humaines ou de l’application des méthodes de recherche en sciences humaines au domaine numérique. Dans ce contexte, la série d’ateliers COMHUM se positionne comme un forum international principalement consacré aux questions de recherche suivantes : (1) Quelles approches formelles ou computationnelles peuvent aider à relever les défis particuliers posés par la présence croissante du numérique dans les sciences humaines, par exemple les artefacts numériques, les logiciels, les LLM et les données générées par ordinateur ? Dans ces cas et au-delà, (2) Quelles méthodes sont les plus appropriées pour relever les défis posés par la recherche en sciences humaines et comment peuvent-elles être appliquées à des questions de recherche concrètes ? La première journée sera consacrée au thème spécifique « computation and video games ». Ce thème explore les méthodes informatiques utilisées pour analyser les jeux vidéo ainsi que les approches humanistes à la computation dans les jeux vidéo. Il a de nombreuses ramifications dans diverses disciplines, notamment les études logicielles, les études critiques du code, l’analyse littéraire, les humanités numériques et les sciences du jeu. Les thèmes abordés dans le cadre de cette session spéciale comprennent, sans s’y limiter : - Méthodes d’extraction de données dans les jeux vidéo (par exemple, télémétrie, ressources, modèles, code) - Méthodes informatiques pour l’analyse des jeux vidéo (y compris les aspects spatiaux, représentatifs et narratifs) - Analyses de l’intersection entre les approches computationnelles et l’étude des jeux vidéo - Approches humanistes à la computation appliquées aux jeux vidéo (y compris les logiciels) Dans l’esprit des éditions précédentes de l’atelier COMHUM, la deuxième journée sera ouverte aux soumissions sur tout sujet lié à la recherche théorique ou appliquée sur les méthodes computationnelles pour la recherche en sciences humaines au sens large. Les thèmes abordés dans le cadre de la session ouverte comprennent, sans s’y limiter : - Questions théoriques relatives à la modélisation formelle dans les sciences humaines - Représentation des connaissances dans les sciences humaines - Structures de données traitant de problèmes spécifiques aux sciences humaines (y compris le texte et le balisage) - Méthodes computationnelles dans les sciences humaines (par exemple, pour les études linguistiques et littéraires, les études historiques ou les données multimodales) - Applications de la vision par ordinateur, de l’analyse d’images et de l’analyse spatiale dans les sciences humaines Le programme comprendra des exposés invités et des communications libres. DHSI-East 2026 registration now open

Dear all, We are pleased to announce that the registration is now open for DHSI-East 2026, which will take place at St Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, from Tuesday 5 May to Friday 8 May. Faculty, staff, students, and all interested welcome. We have three concurrent workshops this year: "Project Management in the Humanities,” led by Dr. Jennifer Guiliano; "Research Data Management for Humanities Researchers,” led by Shahira Khair and Sandra Sawchuk; and “Digital Publishing in the Humanities Classroom,” led by Dr. Andie Silva and zelda montes. Dr. Susan Brown will offer the keynote talk: “‘Show Your Work’: Linking, Platforming, and Deplatforming for the Future of Born-Digital Scholarship” We are also welcoming applications for accommodation grants to subsidize the cost of attendance at DHSI-East for student participants (undergraduate and graduate); BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) participants; and under-employed participants (those in precarious positions and/or underwaged positions).
