The conference is organized by the Leibniz Institute of European History (IEG) - Research group »Digitality in Historical Research« | DH Lab -, in cooperation with NFDI4Memory and the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz, and is supported by the German Research Foundation (DFG). The conference seeks to examine the ethical dimensions of data usage within historical research, fostering discussions among scholars to provide practical tools and strategies to navigate these challenges. A rich program of contributions - spanning from colonial studies, to museums and their management and presentation of sensible materials - will explore the theme from multiple perspectives and through various applications. Practical solutions for addressing the issue of sensible terms in databases will be addressed by our keynote speaker, Kerstin Herlt, coordinator of the European project DE-BIAS.
