Details also available at https://www.plottingpoetry.org/conference/2024einsiedeln/cfp Best, Petr --- *PLOTTING POETRY 7: Metres of Humour.* 26-27-28 June, 2024 Einsiedeln, Switzerland *Call for Papers* *Plotting Poetry* is a conference series focussed on computational, statistical and other quantitative approaches for the study of poetic texts, and of poeticity more broadly. This quantitative focus, this insistence on the formalization and operationalisation of texts, from simple pen and paper counting and compiling to complex algorithms, provides us with a number of paths to analyze, describe, interpret, attribute, classify, track and generally access the texts. The Plotting Poetry conferences bring together a friendly community of researchers, and articles rooted in the conference papers have given rise to several peer-reviewed collective volumes. The name of the group stems from an effort to translate a (perfectly serious) pun by the French modernist poet Guillaume Apollinaire, who in 1917 wrote that poets should “[machiner] poetry as has been done for the world”, where the verb *machiner* is visibly used for *mechanize*, although it really means *to plot*, as one would *plot* a coup. In this group, we are plotting against our own limitations by trying to plot literature on graphs, devising mechanized approaches to dissect the mechanics of poetry. This year’s conference welcomes a focus on the many forms of humour in verse. Although verse and humour might appear to sit at opposite ends of a literary hierarchy of taste and sophistication, the two have appeared together for as long as verse has been written, sung, played, shared or shouted. Versified humour can be found in popular productions and in highbrow literature, with poets writing lighter pieces alongside their other productions, as well as including humorous passages within their serious works. Both materials - humour and verse - rely on a departure from *bona fide* communication, seeking to harness the shortcomings of language, to create layered meanings and to trigger an additional effort from the recipient trying to make sense of incongruous or opaque utterances. Whilst ambiguity would be an enemy of efficient communication, it is a staple of both humour and poetry. Versification usually provides us with a reassuring sameness, and versified humour sometimes relies on this learned expectation of sameness, taking advantage of our prior knowledge in order to mislead us. This happens when an unexpected approximate rhyme brings to mind the obscene word that would provide a similar yet perfect rhyme. Or when the choice of a specific metre, with its baggage of associated uses and meanings, helps create parody or satire. Or even, very simply, when the stanzaic structure of a poem builds then breaks the monotony of lines, signaling the humorous intent of its punchline. In French, the punchline of a joke and the striking end of a poem are both named *la chute*: the fall. Verse has an ability to leave an impression on our minds and memories, and as such can readily serve persuasion efforts, from slogans or commercials to epic poems and state propaganda. Humour is often a deeply political reality. Despite its affinity with taboo subjects and irreverence, one of humour’s regular uses is to spread and maintain stereotypes, assert domination, and strengthen the feelings of belonging and allegiance through a so-called universality. This humour of the dominant tends to suppress minority voices and singular perspectives, requiring the dominated to laugh along in an effort to fit with the in-group. And yet, it can also be used as a weapon for attacking the order in place, voicing singularities, and questioning the established norms. Examining the powers of those two phenomena, one can wonder: What happens when a versified text is humorous, and what when a humorous text is in verse? Can shared regularities be found in the many verse forms of humorous texts? Can we measure those, and how? Should, or can, the funniness of it be taken into account, or even just its humorous intent, despite the high degree of cultural, linguistic and historical specificity? Papers addressing humour alongside verse or other highly-controlled and rhythmical forms are all welcome, whether written, read, sung or smuggled, from the lowest to the highest registers, from any time period and any language area. This focus on humour in verse is not an exclusive one, and we encourage the submission of papers that use quantitative tools and methods in investigating poetry or poeticity, regardless of their link to humorous poetry. Besides, as has been traditional at Plotting Poetry conferences, works on other genres may also be included, provided that a mechanization or quantification apparatus is being used to explore their poeticity. Some of the topics to consider include but are not limited to: - Verse forms and meters used and misused for lighter pieces - Stanzaic structures and their use in humour - Puns and their relationship to versification - Versification as a target of humour - Slogans and propaganda - Standup as poetry - Musical forms of humour (song, rap…) - … For this 7th Plotting Poetry conference, we will be convening in the Swiss village of Einsiedeln, in the canton of Schwyz. PhD Position 'Sound and Foreign Affairs from a Digital History Approach, 1700-1990', University of Amsterdam

The Amsterdam School of Historical Studies<https://ash.uva.nl/> (ASH) invites applications for a PhD position as part of the Faculty of Humanities starting grant “Sound and Foreign Affairs from a Digital History Approach, 1700-1990”, led by principal investigators Dr. H. Alloul and Dr. M.J.H.F. Wevers. This interdisciplinary project is situated at the crossroads of two fields. International History is broadly conceived and includes the study of diplomacy, interstate relations, conflict studies, and transnational encounters. Sonic History examines the significance of sound, noise, silence, or music within formal and informal spaces. The project seeks to harness the possibilities of digital methods to examine the reproduction, representation, reception, or the materiality of sound in foreign affairs. For further background, see the suggested reading list below. The PhD position, commencing on 1 February 2024, is fully funded and lasts 4 (1,0 fte) to 5 years (0,8 fte), depending on the candidate’s preference. The position includes coursework and limited teaching duties. What are you going to do? We are seeking to hire an enthusiastic PhD candidate with a strong methodological focus who wants to specialize in International History, taking sound as an object of study. Candidates can work on a project of their own choosing and are encouraged to think creatively in terms of research design. We invite interested candidates to prepare short pitches (details below) that could, for instance, examine: * listening practices, elucidating how sound was perceived and understood by historical actors with different backgrounds in various international settings; * how silence, noise, sonorous aspects, or sound technologies shaped diplomatic dialogues and debates, using sound design methods or speech-generation to reconstruct events; * how artists and their music participated to, or operated in transnational circuits, for instance using network analysis or GIS; * how sound, in its relation to foreign affairs, was historically depicted and recorded through various mediums, employing multimodal digital history techniques; * the physical and acoustic properties of spaces and their influence on international exchanges, relying on, for example, 3D-modelling. The chosen timeframe should fall within 1700-1990. There are no geographical restrictions, provided that candidates can read the relevant primary sources. Projects exploring non-Western perspectives are encouraged. Candidates without prior experience in digital methods should demonstrate a keenness to acquire these skills. The University of Amsterdam will provide the necessary training and guidance. Depending on the research project, potential primary sources – digitally accessible or easily digitizable – could consist of: * Sound and radio recordings; * (Printed) diplomatic documents; * (Un)published (and serialized) correspondence; * Newspaper and magazine archives; * Parliamentary proceedings and court records; * Visual sources (incl. photographs, paintings, etchings, drawings). Tasks and responsibilities: * submission of a PhD thesis within the period of appointment; * presenting intermediate research results at workshops and conferences; * participation in the Research School and Faculty of Humanities PhD training programmes; * teaching deployment at BA-level in the second or third year of the appointment, for a maximum of 0,2 fte per year. What do you have to offer? You are a motivated, creative thinker who is willing to explore uncharted territories of research. You can work independently while guided by your supervisors. Being a team-player, you enjoy working in close collaboration with other researchers and institutions. You have good communication skills that will enable you to present your research clearly in papers, talks, and the final dissertation. Candidates should have: * a completed Master's degree in a field relevant to the proposed PhD project, e.g. History, Digital Humanities, International Relations, Anthropology, Media Studies, or Musicology. Alternatively, you may also apply if you have not yet completed your Master’s degree but can provide a signed letter from your supervisor stating that you will graduate before February 2024; * excellent research skills demonstrated by an outstanding Master's thesis and/or a track record of academic publications; * good command of English. Please note that if you already hold a doctorate/PhD or are working towards obtaining a similar degree elsewhere, you will not be admitted to a doctoral programme at the UvA. What can we offer you? We offer a temporary employment contract for the period of 48 months. The first contract will be for 16 months, with an extension for the following 32 months, contingent on a positive performance evaluation within the first 12 months. The employment contract is for 38 hours a week. The preferred starting date is 01 February 2023. The gross monthly salary, based on 38 hours per week and relevant experience, ranges from € 2,770 up to a maximum of € 3,539. Without such digital support systems, it will no longer be possible to index, find, annotate, and curate the ever-growing number of digitally available resources for research data. Digital systems are also already in use for analyzing, indexing, enriching, and annotating multimedia data. But what about systems that support the analysis, annotation, and interpretation of digital research data - thus: representation of hermeneutic methods - and their results as well as supporting machine learning, reasoning, and finally automating the documentation of annotation, interpretation, and understanding? Research rarely begins with manual browsing in archives, but rather on the Internet. Extending the legacy of quantitative history pioneered by the Annales School, quantitative methods such as distant reading complement established methods such as close reading and discourse analysis, and are becoming increasingly important as digital collections grow. AI systems like ChatGPT create new opportunities and challenges regarding text production and source analysis. Digital literacy and algorithmic criticism are one way of responding to this shift. Both students and researchers need to be trained and sensitized to the new demands and possibilities of digital research practice. Digital tools and methods are being integrated into history education to provide students with a solid foundation for their future research activities. Research collaborations need to be rethought under the conditions of digitization, etc. Within this general context, a lot of questions need urgently to be discussed. What are the basic elements of data literacy which every historian should know about? What is algorithmic criticism and how can it be practiced in our every-day research routines? How do we manage the data we produce during the research process? Which criteria (if any) should we use to choose a software for a specific task? Where to find help when faced with a methodological or a computer problem – or a combination of both? How to set up interdisciplinary collaborations? How do we handle technologies that some of their inventors construct as ‹black boxes›? How can we deal with the rapidly increasing demand for very different resources (e.g. technical knowledge, computing power, money)? etc. The conference provides a platform for scholars, researchers and professionals of all ages and levels of experience to discuss these challenges, exchange experiences, share best practices, and discuss forward-looking approaches to historical research in the digital age. It aims to promote digital literacy, raise awareness of the use of algorithms and AI systems, develop strategies for dealing with digital sources, encourage shared formats and methodologies, and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices for collaborative historical research. The conference will also showcase projects and research in the field of digital history. It is planned that a selection of the papers presented at the conference will be published in a peer-reviewed open access publication. This is the first in a series of conferences that should take place every two years at a different Swiss university. *RIDE Call for Reviews: Crowd Editions* The Institute for Documentology and Scholarly Editing (IDE) is calling for reviews dedicated to crowd edited and peer sourced Digital Scholarly Editions (DSE). A publication of the reviews is planned in the online review journal for digital editions and resources RIDE under the topic “Crowd Edited Digital Scholarly Editions”. We are inviting reviews of such Digital Scholarly Editions from all Humanities disciplines. “Crowd edited” is understood in a broad sense: It describes a form of digitally enabled participation in the tasks that the creation and publication of a digital scholarly edition entail. It can imply that typical tasks, e.g., transcription, collation, annotation, (cross-)linking, or commentary, are “crowd sourced” or “peer sourced”, that means undertaken by a casual group of committed persons, through a publicly accessible platform. It can also imply that the edition is completely created by an independent public user group, e.g., on a social media platform (“social edition”). Call for Nominations: ADHO Roberto Busa Prize The Roberto Busa Prize is an award of the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organisations (ADHO). It is named in honour of Father Roberto Busa, the first pioneer of humanities computing, who in 1949 began experiments in linguistic automation, with the support of the IBM offices in New York and Milan, as part of his analytical research on the writings of Thomas Aquinas. The computational work was central to the thirty years of research whose published output was the 56-volume Index Thomisticus, completed in 1980. The Busa award is given to recognise outstanding lifetime achievements in the application of information and communications technologies to humanities research. The award is given every three years, alternating with other ADHO awards, such as the Zampolli award. The first award was given to Father Busa himself in 1998. Subsequent winners have been John Burrows (2001) Susan Hockey (2004) Wilhelm Ott (2007) Joe Raben (2010) Willard McCarty (2013) and Helen Agüera (2016). While early discussions revolved around academic integrity, universities have begun to shift their attention to the role of generative AI in the research enterprise. Research rarely begins with manual browsing in archives, but rather on the Internet. Extending the legacy of quantitative history pioneered by the Annales School, quantitative methods such as distant reading complement established methods such as close reading and discourse analysis, and are becoming increasingly important as digital collections grow. AI systems like ChatGPT create new opportunities and challenges regarding text production and source analysis. Digital literacy and algorithmic criticism are one way of responding to this shift. Both students and researchers need to be trained and sensitized to the new demands and possibilities of digital research practice. Digital tools and methods are being integrated into history education to provide students with a solid foundation for their future research activities. Research collaborations need to be rethought under the conditions of digitization, etc. Within this general context, a lot of questions need urgently to be discussed. What are the basic elements of data literacy which every historian should know about? What is algorithmic criticism and how can it be practiced in our every-day research routines? How do we manage the data we produce during the research process? Which criteria (if any) should we use to choose a software for a specific task? Where to find help when faced with a methodological or a computer problem – or a combination of both? How to set up interdisciplinary collaborations? How do we handle technologies that some of their inventors construct as ‹black boxes›? How can we deal with the rapidly increasing demand for very different resources (e.g. technical knowledge, computing power, money)? etc. The conference provides a platform for scholars, researchers and professionals of all ages and levels of experience to discuss these challenges, exchange experiences, share best practices, and discuss forward-looking approaches to historical research in the digital age. It aims to promote digital literacy, raise awareness of the use of algorithms and AI systems, develop strategies for dealing with digital sources, encourage shared formats and methodologies, and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices for collaborative historical research. The conference will also showcase projects and research in the field of digital history. It is planned that a selection of the papers presented at the conference will be published in a peer-reviewed open access publication. This is the first in a series of conferences that should take place every two years at a different Swiss university. What metadata do literary studies need?

The NFDI consortium Text+, the DFG priority program Computational Literary Studies, and the EU project CLS-Infra have jointly created a survey on criteria for the creation of literary text corpora or collections. It only takes about 10 minutes to answer! https://survey.academiccloud.de/index.php/916873?lang=en The aim of this survey is to ask all researchers who create (digital) literary corpora or collections what information they need and consider for compilation. Currently, catalogs from libraries, archives, and digital platforms do not yet meet researchers' criteria because of different priorities regarding metadata. We want to change this and therefore ask the researchers themselves, for example, whether they are only looking for novels by 19th century French women authors for their corpus or rather what other information besides genre, gender and time period might be important. Of course, this does not mean that these metadata can be added right after the survey, but prioritization helps us to improve research infrastructures and the supply of digital corpora plus metadata. November 2023, Frankfurt am Main Digitization has reached almost all areas of science and scholarship. And even in the cultural sciences and humanities, computers, databases and digital tools are increasingly important. Last year's annual conference "Digital Hermeneutics: Machines, Procedures, Meaning<https://www.fernuni-hagen.de/digitale-hermeneutik/>" of the research cluster digital_culture<https://www.fernuni-hagen.de/forschung/schwerpunkte/digitale-kultur/index.s…> dealt with the theoretical and conceptual challenges inherent in hermeneutic methods, tools, and applications. The results of the conference supported understanding and meaning, when algorithms, programs, machines, and other technical procedures contribute to it[1]. Following up on these initial theoretical and conceptual results, we now want to address more technical aspects of methods, technologies, tools, and applications supporting Digital Hermeneutics under the title "Digital Hermeneutics II: Sources, Analysis, Interpretation, Annotation, Curation" and take a look at digitally supported hermeneutic research processes and anticipate the future of digitized working practices in the cultural sciences and humanities. Without such digital support systems, it will no longer be possible to index, find, annotate, and curate the ever-growing number of digitally available resources for research data. Digital systems are also already in use for analyzing, indexing, enriching, and annotating multimedia data. But what about systems that support the analysis, annotation, and interpretation of digital research data - thus: representation of hermeneutic methods - and their results as well as supporting machine learning, reasoning, and finally automating the documentation of annotation, interpretation, and understanding? TOPICS OF INTEREST In an exchange between humanities scholars and computer scientists, we want to explore the possibilities and limits of the vision of digitally supported hermeneutics. The following questions should be understood as suggestions for contributions: · Digitization processes bear the risk of information loss or structural shifts and biases. How can these risks be dealt with? · The transformation of sources to data involves coding and enables the enrichment with information. How does one deal with the loss of the original source characteristics? Do standardizations promote a focus on unifying features of different sources or can nuances and deviations also be mapped? · Do the questions and epistemological interests of humanities, cultural studies, and social sciences change the availability, quality, and quantity of sources in the form of data? · How can algorithms and tools support, possibly even expand, research questions and epistemological interests in the humanities, cultural studies, and social sciences? · Can computer science also benefit from the discussion of methods in the humanities, social sciences, and cultural studies? The support of hermeneutic research processes by computer science can cover MultiMedia Indexing and Retrieval, Natural Language Processing (e.g. Named Entity Recognition), Knowledge Representation, Argumentation Mining, Machine Learning, Reliability, Explainability and Reproducibility. For the workshop, we are looking for contributions from both realms - computer science and humanities, also preferably in interdisciplinary tandem. Reports on current developments of digital support systems, experiences in dealing with such systems, as well as the problematization of technical and methodological challenges for the humanities and computer science are desired. We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work on the AHRC-funded project “Museum Closure in the UK 2000-2025”. You will be based at the Computer Science department at Birkbeck during the first year, and at the Digital Humanities department at King’s College London during the second year. The Museum Closure project will use trans-disciplinary methods to analyse closure and collections dispersal within the UK museums sector. Its aim is to examine the geographic distribution of closure, to better understand types of closure, and to document the flows of objects and knowledge from museums in the aftermath of closure. A Knowledge Base will be designed to model and store the collected data, and visualisations and statistical analyses of the data will be developed. Using these tools, the project team will aim to critically reassess notions of permanence and loss within the museum sector. Digital Academy 2023 - From Uncertainty to Action: Advancing Research with Digital Data (Digital History, Bielefeld University) Dear colleagues, dear Digital Humanities enthusiasts, the Digital Academy once again invites you to a vital exchange on data-based research and digital methods. This year, we will particularly focus on an issue that affects the Digital Humanities on all levels: uncertainty. With her concept of “capta,” Johanna Drucker pointed out that when researchers collect and model data, they use criteria that are not objectively given. Thus, there always is a certain perspective that is forced onto our data sets, which highly influences the possibilities of analysing data. In order to be able to exploit data sets to their full potential, it is crucial for researchers to reflect on this perspectivity. Uncertainty plays a role on various levels: How can we interpret unclear data within texts, for example ambiguous designations of people or places? In which formats are data sets available, and how does this affect working with different analysing tools? The Digital Academy 2023 will touch upon these questions and many more. In this context, uncertainty is not supposed to be framed as something deficient that inevitably blurs data-based research within the Digital Humanities. The aim instead is to explore and develop strategies that help dealing with digital research data. We will discuss these strategies from 25th to 28th September 2023 within an online format. 1. Open Space Day: Experts will report on their research projects and subsequently discuss aspects of their work with the audience. This part of the program is open to all who are interested. 2. Three-day workshop: The participants will get the opportunity to present and discuss their strategies for dealing with uncertainty within their own research projects. This workshop particularly aims at advanced Masters students, PhD students, and postdocs. Participation is free of charge for both parts of the program. Call for Participation (Three-Day Workshop) 1 Your Contributions Your contributions (20 mins. presentation, 10 mins. discussion) may deal with all kinds of possible interpretations of uncertainty with regards to digital data. This in-person course will introduce you to issues, methods and technologies in the 3D imaging and modelling of ancient artefacts and buildings. Through a mix of discussion and practical training, you will learn about imaging of heritage objects. You will have the opportunity to put into practice the method of photogrammetry, the production of a 3D model from multiple still photographs of an object. You will also gain experience with an easy-to-use 3D design tool, for creating reconstructions of lost historical buildings or monuments. Both sets of technologies will be presented within a theoretical and methodological framework, thinking about 3D modelling alongside best practice, preservation, ethical and legal issues. Formulaic Language in Historical Research and Data Extraction: An International Conference Final Call For Papers Huygens Institute, Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences Amsterdam, 7-9 February 2024 Formulaic language is a phenomenon familiar to scholars working with a great variety of historical sources. In official documents such as charters, acts, laws, ordinances, proceedings, but also in ‘private’ texts such as letters, petitions, egodocuments, and literary texts, we find (sequences of) words that appear over and over again, often in the same position in the text, over a long period of time. Such formulaic elements seem to fulfill many different functions: they may help the reader understand the type or genre of a text, structure the text, indicate its performative character, strengthen the relationship between author and reader, or help memorizing a text, to name but a few. Given the highly formulaic character of many written sources, especially (but not only) of the premodern period, the phenomenon of formulaic language has received surprisingly little attention in historical research. It has been studied in (socio)linguistics and historical pragmatics, but few historians have engaged with this scholarship. Until recently, moreover, the potential of formulaic language for (automated) data extraction of large digitized source corpora has remained virtually unexplored. The twofold aim of this international conference is: 1. to place formulaic language on the agenda as an object of historical study (in the broadest, interdisciplinary sense of this term) 2. to explore the potential of formulaic language for the digitization and data extraction of historical sources of different types and periods. Possible questions that we would like to address in this conference include: • What is formulaic language? In which societal domains and historical sources can it be found? When and why has language been considered formulaic, and by whom? How is formulaic language defined and studied in different academic fields? How does the use of formulaic language vary across (national) linguistic traditions and across space and time? • How has formulaic language historically been understood? Which purposes has it served? How, when and where has formulaic language emerged, transferred or disappeared? How has formulaic language evolved over time, and how can change be explained? How does formulaic language in written texts relate to speech acts and ritual performances? How does it relate to text genres and genre conventions? • What are the social and political connotations and consequences of formulaic language? Who produces it, who engages with it, who knows how to use it, and who is excluded by it? How do (political, religious, legal) authorities, intermediaries, and ordinary language users employ, exploit, and interpret formulaic language? Does formulaic language facilitate or hinder the participation of subaltern groups in society? What is the relationship between formulaic language and the subsequent transitions from oral to written culture to the age of print and the digital age, or with processes of standardization, professionalization, and bureaucratization? • How can formulas be used to extract information from texts? What information do formulaic expressions convey about the subject or meaning of a text? Can they play a role in recognizing and contextualizing named entities? Can they help to link texts with other texts? • How can formulaic language be identified in text corpora and archives, including long serial publications and heterogeneous archives of diverse documents? How can formulaic expressions be categorized and how can relationships between formulas be identified? We welcome proposals for papers (c. 250 words) on these and related topics from scholars working in different fields. Proposals should be sent, together with a short bio- bibliographical statement including indication of institutional affiliation, by 15 June, to Republic_Goetgevonden(a)huygens.knaw.nl. Please give your email the title ‘Formulaic Language conference’. We will prioritize proposals that go beyond singular case studies and address questions that help us understand the phenomenon of formulaic language through comparisons across time, space, language, genre or corpus. If you intend to submit a fellowship application, do so before 23:59 CEST 30 May. The CLS INFRA Fellowship Programme provides access to a wide range of data, tools and knowledge. Scholars from literary studies or with an interest in Computational Literary Studies methods are invited to apply for a fellowship grant in one of our infrastructure providers. Successful applicants will not only obtain free-of-charge physical access to the infrastructure, but in the context of the overall project they will become part of the larger CLS community. By responding to one of our calls, applicants may have the opportunity to: * Interact with experts; * Receive advice on ongoing projects; * Learn how to use the ecosystem of data, tools and standards; * Assemble new literary corpora; * Profit from hands-on training and support. * Fellowships grants will cover housing and subsistence costs as well as travel to and from the host institution. Best regards, ----- Call for Papers Umanistica Digitale Dossier: Digital Art History The dossier on “Digital Art History” of Umanistica Digitale collects contributions on the study of methods, approaches, debates and experiments that developed over the last two decades in the field of Digital Art History, particularly along two lines of research that appear dominant today. On the one hand, scholarly studies in Art History embrace a transdisciplinary approach to investigate several aspects that are constituents of the discipline: e.g. to formulate authorship attributions, reconstruct provenance, detect artworks’ genre and style, or investigate historical networks. To this extent, digital tools are employed to conduct and extend consolidated practices of research in Art History, though impacting its scope in many ways. On the other hand, computational methodologies have significantly evolved in the last decades and have opened new frontiers in research and industry. The development of text-to-image software has raised new issues in the field of generative art and intellectual property, as well as the use of blockchain and NFT has reframed the role of cultural institutions toward the art market. Big Data analysis and Distant Viewing have also impacted the modes of art historical research, bringing structural and logical topics into the foreground, rather than as side products of scholarly investigations. Similarly, the predominant role of data visualisation for cultural heritage analysis significantly impacts decision-making processes, while the employment of interactive/immersive installations and the Web as instruments of participation and awareness introduce new practices for engaging with museum audiences, stakeholders and patrons. This dossier welcomes proposals in both aforementioned areas of interest, privileging those pertaining to the field of the Digital Humanities, Computer Science, and Art History, as well as from other sectors that want to engage in the exploration of Digital Art History in a transdisciplinary perspective. Hello all ~ For those of you who want to learn and hone your text analysis skills, Constellate is hosting the Text Analysis Pedagogy (TAP) Institute<http://ithaka.org/TAPInstitute> this summer, a free series of events and classes offered from July 10 through August 4. The courses are taught by experts in text analysis and progress from beginner to advanced levels throughout the summer (classes are offered at a wide variety of times to accommodate different time zones.) Those interested in learning more can register to attend one or more TAP Institute courses at no cost, and should explore the freely available Constellate dataset builder<https://constellate.org/builder> and our open educational resources and tutorials. I am also thrilled to announce recent updates to Constellate that make it even easier for faculty, librarians, and other instructors to easily and effectively teach text analysis and computational literacy skills.
