Extension for ADHO Pedagogy and Training SIG poster slam at DH2026 submissions

Dear colleagues, we are extending the deadline for submissions to the poster slam at DH 2026 for the DH Pedagogy and Training SIG. Please submit proposals by Monday, February 9. Accepted participants will be notified no later than 28 February. Overview The DH Pedagogy and Training SIG (https://adho.org/dh-pedagogy-and-training/) will hold a Pedagogy Poster Slam at the 2026 DH Conference in Daejeon, South Korea. The Pedagogy Poster Slam will take place during the SIG’s reserved slot during one of the conference’s two workshop days, either Monday, 27 July 2026, or Tuesday, 28 July 2026. Posters will either focus on a) a specific assignment for a DH or DH-inflected course or b) an entire course. During the workshop, participants will first participate in the Slam, where they will have a maximum of 120 seconds to discuss one aspect of their assignment or course. Once the participants have all spoken, the rest of the workshop will be devoted to a conventional poster session, where attendees can engage with the presenters at their posters. Presenters will be encouraged to bring print copies of their assignment/syllabus to distribute to attendees. All conference attendees will be welcome to attend the workshop and slam. (Plus, there will be food!) Call for Proposals The SIG Conveners invite all members of the DH community to submit proposals for the Pedagogy Poster Slam. Proposals will include · 150 words or fewer about the context of the assignment, course, or workshop · 200 words or fewer about the assignment, course, or workshop · An upload of either the assignment or the course syllabus Proposals should be submitted via the following Google Form: https://forms.gle/zdkNEHXPDppXQz3E6. ERC P|RIMA: open position for a data engineer

Dear colleagues, We are pleased to announce the recruitment of a Research Data Mining and Data Engineering Developer (M/F)within the l'ERC PRIMA (Grant Agreement n°101142242), Manuscripts in the Age of Print (1575-1800) <https://prima.hypotheses.org/>. Project overview: The assumption that print production dominated the circulation of literature, science, and music, among other areas, in Early Modern Europe (1575-1800) needs to be challenged. In fact, manuscript production and publication, particularly in Italy, were exceptionally rich but have been neglected in research. The ERC-funded PRIMA project aims to rewrite our understanding of manuscript production and publication in Early Modern Europe. It explores the relationship between text and physical form, highlighting overlooked manuscript culture, and challenging assumptions about the superiority of print over manuscripts. The project focuses on Italy and employs innovative methods to uncover unknown works. Recruitment timeline: Application deadline: 9 February 2026 Interviews: 16 February 2026 Starting date: 1 April 2026 Profile details: The developer (Ingénieur·e d’études) will have three main responsibilities related to the project’s technical infrastructure which includes a PostgreSQL database, a Django application, a REST API, and an editorial platform based on TEI Publisher. 1. Data integration and management The candidate will be responsible for analysing, transforming, and cleaning data (produced by project members and partners) in order to integrate them into the project database in a documented and reproducible manner, in compliance with the database plans and constraints. Special attention will be given to data quality and the identification and removal of duplicates. The candidate will also contribute to the maintenance of the Data Management Plan and to the deposit of datasets on appropriate platforms (Zenodo, Nakala, etc.). 2. Data extraction Using the project database and API, the candidate will extract data in standardised formats to enable their deposit in data repositories as well as their integration into national and international partner repositories, in accordance with the schemas and constraints of these repositories (CIDOC-CRM ; TEI ; EAD etc.). 3. Data mining Based on the project database and API, the candidate will carry out quantitative and qualitative statistical analyses to test the project’s research hypotheses. They will also propose visualisations of the results, ensuring full documentation of the methods used and the reproducibility of analyses and outcomes. CALL FOR PAPERS 3rd Workshop on Computational Methods in the Humanities (COMHUM 2026) ======================================================================== September 9–10, 2026 · University of Lausanne, Switzerland Deadline for submission of abstracts: February 20, 2026 Special track: computation and video games ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Academia and the humanities have never been more digital, which pushes digital humanities to frontiers beyond computational approaches to humanities or the application of humanities research methods to the digital. In this context, the COMHUM workshop series positions itself as an international forum primarily devoted to the following research questions: (1) which formal or computational approaches can help address the particular challenges posed by the growing presence of the digital in humanities, e.g., digital artifacts, software, LLMs, and computer-generated data? In these cases and beyond, (2) which methods are most appropriate to tackle the challenges posed by humanities research and how can they be applied to concrete research questions? The first day will be devoted to the specific topic of computation and video games. This topic explores computational methods for analyzing video games as well as humanities approaches to computation in video games. It has a number of ramifications in a variety of disciplines, including software studies, critical code studies, literary analysis, digital humanities, and game studies. Topics in the special track include, but are not limited to: - Methods for data extraction in video games (e.g. telemetry, assets, models, code) - Computational methods for video game analysis (including spatial, representational and narrative aspects) - Analyses of intersection of computational approaches and the study of video games - Humanities approaches to computation of video games (including software) In the spirit of the previous editions of the COMHUM workshop, the second day will be open to submissions on any topic pertaining to theoretical or applied research on computational methods for humanities research broadly conceived. “Accessible Textual Heritage” Course – second Call for Applications

Dear all, Applications for the *Professional Development and Specialization Course “Accessible Textual Heritage”* are open until *February 8th*. The course will take place at the University of Verona and online (blended mode) from March 23, 2026, to April 30, 2026. The course consists of 25 hours of training in the first week (March 23-27, 2026), with theoretical explanations and practical workshops, and the completion of a final project, with presentation of the results to a team of experts in the field (April 30, 2026). Dear all, Please find below a Call for Papers for the AI for Peace workshop at ICLR in Sao Paolo, Brasil. *Dates* Jan. 30, 2026 Workshop contributions submission deadline Mar. 1, 2026 Decision notification and OpenReview publication Apr. 26 or 27, 2026 Workshop date AI has many historical roots in research for military applications and much of the scientific community remains deeply connected to the surveillance and defense industries. Yet, even today, the military uses of AI are often obscured and many researchers and developers remain unaware of how their work might be deployed in conflicts, and the extent to which they might contribute to intentional harm, including potentially violations of international law. Although AI in conflict and surveillance is a key topic of public and policy debate, there have been no formal spaces for AI researchers themselves within the main machine learning conferences to articulate and discuss their positions towards the weaponization of their research. The AI for Peace workshop @ ICLR 2026 will be a forum to consider both the harms associated with research dissemination and design decisions, and the opportunities for affirmatively building our research and development agenda from the starting position of non-violent harm prevention, research ethics, and respect for international law, including international humanitarian and human rights law. We aim to address the critically under-discussed issue of AI’s dual-use nature, focusing on how machine learning technologies are being adapted for military purposes, potentially without the researchers’ knowledge or consent. While attending to the heightened risks associated with particular areas and systems of research, we will also be collectively thinking through what it looks like to engage productively in research and development activities that considers ethics and international law at its core. Our objectives are to: • Increase transparency about the pipelines through which AI research enters into military and surveillance applications. • Develop collective strategies to address ethical and legal risks as a community of researchers. • Highlight and support research efforts that contribute to peace-building applications, including those helping to surface or elucidate harmful applications of AI. A key avenue of exploration will be to invite parallels between current conversations in AI and similar debates (with longer histories) in other scientific fields, such as genetic biology and nuclear physics; where researchers have grappled with similar ethical challenges and proposed concrete professional responses. Dear European Digital Humanists, the workshop "Historical Labour Markets in Text: Computational and Historical Perspectives on Labour Market Evolution" brings together social and economic historians, labour economists, and digital humanities scholars who use textual sources (for instance job advertisements, ego-documents, legal documentation) to study historical economies of the labour markets. In the context of our Job ads project (https://historical-job-ads.uni-graz.at/) — whether in newspapers, trade journals, or early employment agencies — we used this unique window into employer demand and labor supply: occupations, skills, gender expectations, and social norms. With digitization and advances in natural language processing (NLP), new possibilities emerge for systematic, large-scale analyses across time and place. The goal of the workshop is to exchange experiences on how to prepare, model, and interpret textual sources like job advertisement data for economic, historical and digital research. We will discuss social and economic history of labour, methodological challenges (OCR, classification, text annotation, comparability across periods), share ongoing projects, and explore how computational tools can support broader historical questions about skill demand, gender segmentation, and structural change. Topics include: - Which historical sources can inform us about changing skill requirements, technological change, and gendered labour markets. - What can we learn from historical job ads about changing labour markets? - Which methods are available for extracting structured social and economic information from historical text? - How can we set up comparative and longitudinal studies of labour markets across countries and centuries drawing on data beyond already historically aggregations? - How can we enrich textual sources by linking them to economic taxonomies like HISCO, ISCO, or occupational prestige scales? - What has to be done to aggregate and integrate data created on the historical labour market? The conference will take place in Cagliari (Italy), 3-5 June 2026, hosted by DH UniCa - University of Cagliari. Theme: *Digital and Public Engagement: Practices and Perspectives in the Digital Humanities* The conference aims to explore how Digital Humanities research, tools, and methods enable new forms of active participation in humanities research. Gentili tutte e tutti, i dottorandi e le dottorande in Digital Humanities delle Università di Genova e Torino hanno il piacere di condividere con voi la Call for Abstracts relativa alle Giornate delle DH 2026 dal titolo "Le Digital Humanities tra pratiche, limiti e prospettive (in)convenienti". L’evento si terrà il 25 e 26 maggio 2026 presso l’Università degli Studi di Genova. Il convegno intende esplorare le potenzialità, le sfide e le implicazioni delle tecnologie digitali nei diversi ambiti delle arti, della linguistica, della letteratura e della didattica. L’iniziativa mira a favorire il dialogo interdisciplinare e a promuovere nuove connessioni tra dottorande e dottorandi provenienti da diversi percorsi di ricerca, in un’ottica pienamente coerente con la vocazione delle Digital Humanities. Il programma prevede quattro panel tematici – Arte, spettacolo e patrimonio; Linguistica, traduzione e tecnologie del linguaggio; Ricerca letteraria e culturale; Tecnologie didattiche e nuovi ambienti di apprendimento – che riflettono i curricula del dottorato. Saranno inoltre presenti keynote speaker di rilievo nazionale e internazionale, tra cui il prof. Vittorio Gallese (Università di Parma), il prof. Stefano Moriggi (Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia), la prof.ssa Sophie Robert-Hayek (Sorbonne Université – Paris), il prof. CFP: LT4HALA 2026 - The Fourth Workshop on Language Technologies for Historical and Ancient Languages Website: https://circse.github.io/LT4HALA/2026/ Date: Monday, May 11 2026 Place: co-located with LREC 2026, May 11-16, Palma, Mallorca (Spain) Submission page: https://softconf.com/lrec2026/LT4HALA2026/ DESCRIPTION LT4HALA 2026 is a one-day workshop that seeks to bring together scholars who are developing and/or are using Language Technologies (LTs) for historically attested languages, so to foster cross-fertilization between the Computational Linguistics community and the areas in the Humanities dealing with historical linguistic data, e.g. historians, philologists, linguists, archaeologists and literary scholars. LT4HALA 2026 follows LT4HALA 2020, 2022, 2024 that were organized in the context of LREC 2020, LREC 2022 and LREC-COLING 2024, respectively. Despite the current availability of large collections of digitized texts written in historical languages, such interdisciplinary collaboration is still hampered by the limited availability of annotated linguistic resources for most of the historical languages. Creating such resources is a challenge and an obligation for LTs, both to support historical linguistic research with the most updated technologies and to preserve those precious linguistic data that survived from past times. Relevant topics for the workshop include, but are not limited to: creation and annotation of linguistic resources (both lexical and textual); the role of digital infrastructures, such as CLARIN <https://www.clarin.eu/>, in supporting research based on language resources for historical and ancient languages; handling spelling variation; detection and correction of OCR errors; deciphering; morphological/syntactic/semantic analysis of textual data; adaptation of tools to address diachronic/diatopic/diastratic variation in texts; teaching ancient languages with LTs; NLP-driven theoretical studies in historical linguistics; NLP-driven analysis of literary ancient texts; evaluation of LTs designed for historical and ancient languages; LLMs for the automatic analysis of ancient texts. SHARED TASKS LT4HALA 2026 will also host: the 4th edition of EvaLatin <https://circse.github.io/LT4HALA/2026/EvaLatin>, a campaign entirely devoted to the evaluation of NLP tools for Latin. This new edition will focus on two tasks: dependency parsing and Named Entity Recognition. Dependency parsing will be based on the Universal Dependencies framework. the 5th edition of EvaHan <https://circse.github.io/LT4HALA/2026/EvaHan>, the campaign for the evaluation of NLP tools for Ancient Chinese. EvaHan 2026 will focus on Ancient Chinese OCR (Optical Character Recognition) Evaluation. the 2nd edition of EvaCun <https://circse.github.io/LT4HALA/2026/EvaCun>, the campaign for the evaluation of Ancient Cuneiform Languages, with shared tasks on transliteration normalization, morphological analysis and lemmatization, Named Entity Recognition of Akkadian and/or Sumerian. SUBMISSIONS Submissions should be 4 to 8 pages in length and follow the LREC stylesheet (see below). The maximum number of pages excludes potential Ethics Statements and discussion on Limitations, acknowledgements and references, as well as data and code availability statements. Appendices or supplementary material are not permitted during the initial submission phase, as papers should be self-contained and reviewable on their own. Papers must be of original, previously unpublished work. Papers must be anonymized to support double-blind reviewing. Submissions thus must not include authors’ names and affiliations. The submissions should also avoid links to non-anonymized repositories: the code should be either submitted as supplementary material in the final version of the paper, or as a link to an anonymized repository (e.g., Anonymous GitHub or Anonym Share). Papers that do not conform to these requirements will be rejected without review. Submissions should follow the LREC stylesheet, which is available on the LREC 2026 website on the Author’s kit page <https://lrec2026.info/authors-kit/>. Each paper will be reviewed by three independent reviewers. Accepted papers will appear in the workshop proceedings, which include both oral and poster papers in the same format. Determination of the presentation format (oral vs. poster) is based solely on an assessment of the optimal method of communication (more or less interactive), given the paper content. As for the shared tasks, participants will be required to submit a technical report for each task (with all the related sub-tasks) they took part in. Technical reports will be included in the proceedings as short papers: the maximum length is 4 pages (excluding references) and they should follow the LREC 2026 official format. Reports will receive a light review (we will check for the correctness of the format, the exactness of results and ranking, and overall exposition). All participants will have the possibility to present their results at the workshop. Reports of the shared tasks are not anonymous.
