dear EADH members, i read in the CFP that > With respect for the significant number of languages in which DH is > conducted, _the organizers have determined that the conference will be > conducted in English_ so as to include the work of as many scholars as > possible. elegant phrasing for a simpler: "we allow contributions in English only" some of you probably don't know that ADHO has always been allowing, and somehow promoting, in its conferences 5 main languages: Italian, French, Spanish, German and English. i would be grateful to whom can explain to me why when and with which reasons this policy was changed. ADHO has a «MultiLingualism and MultiCulturalism Standing Committee» which apparently has been ignored or is slowly pushed towards marginality because where multilingualism and multiculturalism should appear and be promoted in ADHO if not first of all in its international conference? how can multiculturalism exist in a monolingual conference? (how can ADHO promote itself as a multicultural associations when its international conference is monolingual/monocultural?) Workshop on Musical Heritage Knowledge Graphs The 22nd International Semantic Web Conference 2022 (virtual) 23-27 October 2022, Hangzhou, China https://mhkg-workshop.i3s.univ-cotedazur.fr/ Music is a key component of our cultural heritage as well as a driver for the creative industry. As such it is studied from a social science and humanities perspective as well as from a computer science one. Recently, knowledge graphs have shown the potential to become an enabling technology for the hybridisation and collaboration between these two research worlds. They can be used for feeding AI applications to support musicologists, musicians, producers, etc. in tasks such as music management, analysis, composition, and generation. And they are key for developing a new generation of music information retrieval applications, based on interlinked knowledge as opposed to isolated collections. Current music data available on the web and in institutional collections is served in heterogeneous and incompatible formats that cannot be easily integrated. Music streaming providers are investing in AI research to develop services and functions that rely on semantic analysis of music content. Similarly, cultural and memory institutions and music collection owners are looking more and more at LOD-based solutions to improve data integration strategies and automatic analysis of their content towards better procedures for preservation, management, and enhancement of musical heritage. The Semantic Web community can respond to this call by putting into action focused research on this domain. This workshop intends to bring together an interdisciplinary audience of researchers and practitioners, including digital artists, to present their most recent use cases and results on methods, tools and applications for building, analyzing, exploiting, and interacting with musical heritage knowledge graphs. We welcome submissions in the following tracks: Papers (research track): Submit a 6-10 page paper. Demos: Submit a work to be presented at a hands-on demo session. Demo submissions should consist of a max 2-page extended abstract including diagrams or images, and a complete list of technical requirements (including anything expected to be provided by the conference organizers). What does the job entail? The research group Innovating Digital Editions at the Huygens Institute in Amsterdam creates digital scholarly editions of literary and (cultural) historical sources, with a focus on Dutch history and culture. The group consists of experts in textual scholarship, (digital) scientific editions and cultural heritage. As a member of the eDITem project you will work on the realization of a tool for publishing digital text editions. You design templates in TEI (Text Encoding Initiative) XML to model and publish different types of literary and (cultural) historical sources. You work closely with researchers involved in the edition project The Mondrian Papers (https://mondrianpapers.org/) for which a proof-of-concept digital edition is being delivered. You also work closely with the Digital Infrastructure department of the KNAW Humanities Cluster, which is responsible for developing and managing, often innovative, software for scientific research. You will liaise with researchers from different departments of the Huygens Institute, to prepare modeling templates for other source editions in TEI XML. Ideally, you have experience with scholarly (digital) editions and/or a (cultural) historical interest. The work is both independent and team-based, and will be directed by a researcher from the Innovating Digital Editions research group at the Huygens Institute. Knowledge, skills and experience: * A completed degree and/or relevant work experience in Software Development in Digital Humanities, preferably in an XML environment; * Experience with modeling humanities data; * Knowledge of and affinity with Open Access and FAIR principles for open science; * Ability to think analytically * Problem-solving skills * Good communication skills; * Good ability to collaborate and work as part of a team. On the Margins: Hypertext, Electronic Literature, Digital Humanities Senate House, University of London London, UK, 15-16 December 2022 https://easychair.org/cfp/Margins22 Submissions deadline: 31 July 2022 Since its early days as a series of experimental approaches, the Hypertext paradigm has proven itself vital in dealing with what Ted Nelson called “deep structural changes in the arrangements of ideas and phenomena.” Whether we conceive of Hypertext as non-sequential writing that branches and allows choices to the reader, or as a body of written or pictorial material interconnected in such a complex way that it could not conveniently be represented on paper, thinking in Hypertext has become a ubiquitous part of everyday life. In our research lives, Hypertext technologies and methodologies are similarly amongst the most prominent and visible outcomes of the “digital age.” Mature products of its investigation by research communities can be found in the work of Electronic Literature scholars and practitioners, Hypertext and Hypermedia specialists, and researchers in the Digital Humanities. However, owing perhaps to their disparate angles of investigation and the sheer scope of activity, these research communities remain fragmented and somehow “on the margins” of wider Humanities and Computer Science scholarship. We invite members of the Hypertext, Electronic Literature and Digital Humanities communities, including PhD and Early Career Researchers, to come together for a two-day conference reflecting on how Hypertext has shaped our research and creative practices, to build research opportunities between sympathetic communities, and to envision how to push the boundaries of Hypertext beyond its current incarnations. We want to inaugurate a space that will promote debate and connections, building new understanding at the crossroads between disciplines. We are planning to hold the conference in person, but can make arrangements to show pre-recorded presentations if you are unable to attend. June 2022 Hybrid Human-Artificial Intelligence (HHAI) is the first international conference focusing on the study of Artificial Intelligent systems that cooperate synergistically, proactively and purposefully with humans, amplifying instead of replacing human intelligence. HHAI aims for AI systems that assist humans and vice versa, emphasizing the need for adaptive, collaborative, responsible, interactive and human-centered intelligent systems that leverage human strengths and compensate for human weaknesses, while taking into account social, ethical and legal considerations. This field of study is driven by current developments in AI, but also requires fundamentally new approaches and solutions. In addition, we need collaboration with areas such as HCI, cognitive and social sciences, philosophy & ethics, complex systems, and others. EADH EC Elections - Call for nominations

The European Association for Digital Humanities (EADH) seeks to elect three (3) new board members for its Executive Committee for the term 2022-2024, and now opens its Call for Nominations. EADH highlights the importance of a diverse and representative Executive Committee, and welcomes candidates from all backgrounds. For further information, please see our diversity and inclusivity statement <https://eadh.org/about/diversity-and-inclusivity>. For each person wishing to be nominated for election, the EADH Elections Committee must receive the following three documents: a) two nomination statements by EADH members (here, the proposers), stating the name of the person they wish to nominate (that is, the nominee). The name of the proposers and the nomination statements will not be made public; b) a statement by the nominee, of no more than 200 words (links excluded), expressing the willingness to stand for election. Statements longer than 200 words will be disregarded. The statements of the proposers and the statement of the nominee must be sent to nominations(a)eadh.org no later than midnight, 03 July, 2020 (GMT). All nominees and proposers must be members in good standing: they must have paid the 2022 membership fee of either EADH or an Associate Organisation (DhD, AIUCD, DHN, CzADH or DH Russia) no later than 15 June 2022, otherwise the nomination will be invalid. Nominees are encouraged to confirm this with their proposers in advance. Proposers may nominate only one (1) nominee. Additional nominations received from the same proposer will be considered invalid. Voting will take place online between 10 July - 20 July 2022 (GMT). Statements by the nominees will be a matter of public record during and after the election. Nomination statements and the identity of the proposers will not be made public. Results will be announced at the EADH Online AGM during DH2022 Conference (date TBC). Information about the formal structure of the Association can be found in our Constitution.
