Dear Michael,
the mail I thought I sent you yesterday evening didn't leave my inbox, sorry. In the meantime, we have received 4 e-mails regarding SIG workshops.
Looking at the overall submissions this morning, it looks like we
can be sure to have enough material to keep us quite busy in the
comings weeks!
All best,
Anne
Dear all, since we are 16 hours from the deadline, I thought I’d check whether any SIGs took advantage of their pre-approved slot (whether session or workshop) with the information Glenn shared with the SIG conveners’ mailing list (ie to indicate they want to reserve something but with the info coming later).Best wishes,M.

Michael, Anne —
Thanks for your notes in response to Andy’s question about the SIG deadline (and Michael, thank you for your request from earlier this week that we be in touch with the SIGs to inform them of this deadline).
My understanding of the PC’s plan and of the Protocol that Michael quoted is this: any SIG that wants to reserve the guaranteed workshop or session slot should inform the PC by the November 4 deadline — but that actual proposals won’t be due until sometime December. Is that correct, and agreeable to everyone?
We don’t actually have an official SIG liaison at the moment, and only just this afternoon restored our own access to the SIG Conveners’ mailing list — so a reminder can now be sent to the group of conveners (and we’ll be able to moderate it). We haven’t sent the reminder yet, but the address is SIG-conveners@lists.digitalhumanities.org.
Anne, Toma — it seems best for that to come from the PC rather than the EB (we don’t want to be bossy!) — but if you’d like us to send it, please let us know.
Thanks again for all your hard work!
Glen

Dear all,_______________________________________________just jumping in to remind everyone of the conference protocol section regarding SIGs and the conference:
"SIG Proposals
If they so choose, every SIG may organize one guaranteed pre-conference workshop or mini-conference OR one session for the conference program. These program elements are guaranteed acceptance. Each SIG may use whatever method it deems appropriate for organizing the session and providing peer review of its components. SIGs must notify the PC that they intend to organize a workshop or session prior to the conference submission deadline."
So actually SIGs should be in touch with the PC before November 4th if they want to use their guaranteed workshop or session slot. I wrote Glen (EB chair) and Megan (EB secretary) earlier this week to remind them of that and they indicated they would be in touch with the SIG liaison on the COB shortly.
Best wishes,Michael

Hi Andy,it is absolutely correct and we have not communicated about it yet. The deadline should be around Mid-December, we are still working out the details so that it fits the conference general guidelines. We will send out e-mails (I am not completely sure yet but probably directly to SIG coordinators) soon.Best,Anne

I have a question from Lauren Tilton:
"do SIGs need to submit their workshop through the main process? In the past, it has been later and done separately, but I just wanted to make sure that I wasn’t missing a deadline."
Is she correct that SIGs have their own workshop deadline? If so, when is that deadline?
Thank you!
Best,Andy
