There is currently a job opening at the Department of Slavic Studies at the University of Graz for a Digital Humanities Project assistant (without doctorate) in the “Liminal Waters” CHANSE project: https://chanse.org/liminalwater/

Project assistant without PhD (pre-doc), 20 hrs/week, starting in September 2025, until January 2027 (hours could increase in 2026).

Essential:

• Proficiency in spoken and written German and English (minimum B1)
• Experience with a web-based CMS (content management system)
• Experience with configuring and administrating a (preferably Linux-based) server
• Knowledge of core GIS (Geographic Information Systems) concepts
• Basic spreadsheet and desktop publishing skills)
• Basic proofreading and copy-editing skills
• Basic image editing skills (i.e. resizing and formatting image files)
• General understanding of online maps and (online) content creation
• International experience (work or study experience abroad)

Desirable:

• Proficiency in other languages (especially Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian, German, Greek, French, and/or Portuguese)
• Experience with GIS software experience (ie. ArcGIS or QGIS)
• Understanding of taxonomies and categorisation of data
• Understanding of uses of audio-visual sources in research (e.g. ethnographic film or ethnographic photography, video essays, PhotoVoice)
• Experience with museum collections
• Experience of digitization of archival or museum collections
