In the context of the research project PRIN 2022 Reading the Italian Novel at a Distance (1830-1930) the selection is open for a Research Fellowship position (one year, possibly renewable) at the University of Rome Tor Vergata.

The project aims to conduct distant reading experiments on a corpus of 1000 Italian novels and short story collections, including translations into Italian from other languages, published between 1830 and 1930. Large-scale analyses will be conducted from a synchronic and diachronic perspective using statistical and computational methods. Analyses will focus on the way characters express their thoughts and emotions and on the identification of social changes in the novels under investigation.

If you know Italian and Italian literature and feel like studying with me and the rest of the project team how Data Science and Large Language Models like GPT can help us understand literary fiction, please send your application via https://pica.cineca.it/uniroma2/f1-2023-0127/. And hurry, the call for applications expires on 21 December 2023!
