Dear colleagues working in the digital humanities, please see below and feel free to pass on the call to relevant colleagues:

Call for articles - ViewFinder Issue 122: Digital Humanities

ViewFinder Issue 122 is now open for submission from academics, researchers, doctoral students and video essayists.

This term we will be exploring the digital humanities. An area of massive expansion in recent decades, the integration of computational technology in humanities research and teaching has progressed from early experiments in information management using mainframe computers, to a proliferation of creative applications of digital hardware and software oriented to the creation, representation and interrogation of knowledge across humanities disciplines. ViewFinder is looking for articles between 800 and 2000 words that engage with the past, present and future of the digital humanities. Contributors should feel free to suggest an area of exploration, or are welcome to focus on the following topics:

• The history of the digital humanities and the ‘computational turn’.

• The ethical demands of the digital humanities.

• Digital humanities and regimes of copyright.

• The challenges of digital humanities projects (e.g. interdisciplinary working, working within large teams).

• Accounts of recent and current research projects undertaken in the digital humanities.

ViewFinder is designed to be accessible across academic disciplines and for public readership as well as academia. It is a chance to synthesise and summarise your project work and to offer think pieces and provocations that enrich the public conversation. More information about ViewFinder can be found here: https://learningonscreen.ac.uk/viewfinder/submissions/

Deadline for proposals: March 13th, 2023. Deadline for papers/submissions April 24th, 2023. All enquiries and proposals please email Ali Ward at alison@learningonscreen.ac.uk.
