Registration is now officially open for the Cory ILAM Conference 2026, titled:

Reimagining the Archive in the Post-Truth Era: An International Interdisciplinary Conference

29 June – 3 July 2026 (Rhodes University, South Africa)

In an age of distortion and falsification, can the archive claim any mandate to speak the truth? This international interdisciplinary conference invites historians, archivists, scientists, artists, and practitioners to explore the evolving role of the archive in shaping collective memory.

The conference programme includes:

• Two practical workshops

• A workshop on the complete process of building a digital archive, presented by David Larsen, CEO of Africa Media Online.

• A workshop presented by Dr Anke Schürer-Ries (University of Bayreuth, Germany), aimed at improving participants’ critical image literacy in the age of AI-generated imagery, misinformation, and digital manipulation.

Participation in both workshops is included in the conference registration fee.

• Panel Discussion
Artistic Intervention as Anarchival Resistance and Intimacy

• More than 40 presentations
Presented by respected researchers and practitioners from across disciplines.
