Dear all,
It's been a busy two months for
the Communications Fellows and I as we handle post-conference
communications and numerous content updates for the website. Our new
fellows, Candice and Pietro, are doing a wonderful job having dived in
head first to assist with social media during DH2016.
This email contains three items that I would like to get your feedback on:
1.
John Nerbonne as asked committee chairs to submit a list of goals for
the coming year. I have developed some based on Lisa's recommendations
and areas where I see need for improvement. However, I would be grateful
for your comments and further recommendations. Please see the attached
Google Doc--if you choose to edit, please identify your edits with a
color other than black and identify who you are in that color at the top
of the document. Please review and make recommendations by next Thursday, September 17th.
2.
Related to the above list of goals, Candice has created a proposed
template for ADHO presentation slides that we would like to receive your
feedback on:
presentation slides.
Please note that this is a low-resolution draft. If approved, Candice
will create a high-resolution version. This will be posted along with
the logo on the website and will become the first of a package of
materials we hope to make available to members and conference
coordinators. This design could also form the basis for a motif across a
number of PR materials.
Please review and make recommendations by next Thursday, September 17th.
3.
Discussion has resumed with the MLMC, the Infrastructure Committee, and
the Steering Committee about whether a new webmaster is needed. I have
recommended that ADHO does indeed need a Drupal developer if we hope to
make the website multilingual, more accessible, and more usable. The
Infrastructure Committee has expressed support for hiring a new
webmaster, but the Steering Committee has not discussed the issue yet.
As you may have gathered from the report, much of what has been proposed
regarding the website may hinge on the presence of a Drupal developer. I
welcome your feedback on whether a webmaster is needed. If possible, I
would like to include the Communications Committee's opinion on this
issue in my report to the Steering Committee.
Thank you all!
All best wishes,
Hannah
